Pee Wee Girls House C District Play Downs to be held in Parksville June 14th and 15th. Any team entering the Districts must be prepared to go onto the Provincials in representation of District 2 Minor Softball.

The Provincials for Pee Wee Girls C this year are July 4th –– 6th in Summerland. A letter of intent to participate at the Provincials is required as part of the District Play Down Registration package.

There will be a $100.00 entry fee to enter the Districts. Dependant upon how many teams, we are planning on a 1 day double knock out on June 14th with June 15th in reserve for a rain day if needed. With Softball BC’’s permission we can take it to a two day double knock out if we get enough teams. One of the main reasons for a District Play Down is to prepare both Coaches and Players for a Provincial Tournament and the formality surrounding it.

Rules and regulations governing the District Play Downs and Provincial Tournament are located on Page 50 –– Section 12.4 of your Softball BC 2008 Handbook. Please ensure you read this section of the Handbook if you have not already done so.

The Midget "C" Nitro girls fastball team earned a bronze medal this past weekend in Fleetwood. The Nitro finished the 4 game round robin with a record of 1 win, 1 loss and 2 ties.

After the dust had settled and 7 games were played the Nitro ended up winning the bronze medal.

The Nitro played Mission, Fleetwood Devils, Fleetwood Extreme, Maple Ridge Encore, Newton Wild Fire and the North Delta Impact.

The Squirt Diamonds played in Langford this past weekend. The girls faced Duncan, Langford, View Royal and Peninsula. Games against Duncan, Langford and Peninsula ended with the mercy rule and the game against View Royal went the full 7 innings. The Diamonds finished the series with 4 wins and 0 losses. Congratulations girls! Well done!

ZONE 6 GIRLS SOFTBALL BC SUMMER GAMES 2008

If you were born in 1994, 1995, 1996 or 1997 you are eligible to try out for the 2008 Zone 6 Girls Softball Team. The 2008 BC Summer Games will be held in Kelowna. Check out the Summer Games website at: www.kelowna2008.ca.

Nanaimo District Minor Fastball Association is proud to announce the amalgamation of the Harewood Association, Cedar/Chase River Association and NDMFA. We are looking forward to a successful 2008 season!

The "Learn to Play" program is a new concept being introduced to the Cedar community softball season this year. It's purpose is to allow the children to learn the fundamentals of t-ball and softball while keeping them busy and having a great time doing it. The program also provides the people who volunteer as coaches the proper techniques and resources on how to teach our children structured softball skills. If you have any questions regarding this new program, and you are registering with the Chase River/Cedar Association, please contact Rod Gallant at gallant@shaw.ca.
